Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating your publication profile.

Getting Started

MyPubLink creates a beautiful, shareable overview of a researcher's publications. Think of it as a "Linktree for science" — enter your name, and within seconds you'll have an interactive profile with charts, statistics, and a full publication list you can share with anyone.
Simply enter your first and last name on the main page and click "Generate Profile." The tool will search for your publications and create a visual summary within seconds. You can then share the resulting link.
Yes, MyPubLink is completely free. No account or registration required.

Data & Sources

By default, MyPubLink searches PubMed (the world's largest biomedical literature database maintained by NCBI/NIH). You can also switch to "All databases" in the dropdown on the main page, which searches across a broader range of academic databases including journals, conferences, and preprints.
  • PubMed — Best for biomedical and life sciences. Very reliable author matching. Contains 36+ million citations.
  • All databases — Covers a much wider range of disciplines (engineering, CS, humanities, etc.) and includes more than 250 million works. Great if your publications aren't primarily in PubMed.
If you're in medicine or biology, PubMed is usually the better choice. For other fields, try "All databases."
Common with popular names! You have several options:
  • Remove individual articles — hover over any publication and click the × button to exclude it
  • Refine your search — use the "Refine search" panel to add your ORCID iD, institution, or research topic
  • Use your ORCID — this is the most reliable way to get accurate results. Find yours at orcid.org
Excluded publications are also removed when you share the link.

Sharing & Using Your Profile

Click the Share button in the top-right corner of your profile (or at the bottom of the page). Copy the link and paste it wherever you'd like — on your LinkedIn profile, in your Instagram or X bio, on your personal website, or in a job application.
No, the link doesn't expire. It re-runs the search every time someone opens it, so it always shows the latest publications. Since the search parameters are encoded in the URL, no data is stored on a server.
Absolutely! Many researchers include their MyPubLink link in their CV, cover letters, or academic applications. The "Short CV" mode is particularly useful for this — it generates a compact list perfect for attachments.

Features & Modes

MyPubLink offers four modes:
  • Overview — interactive charts, keyword cloud, and full publication list
  • CV — formal publication list ready for academic CVs
  • Short CV — compact numbered list for applications
  • Fun — quirky statistics about your publication career 🎉
No. MyPubLink is a fully client-side application. Your search is performed directly in your browser — no data is sent to or stored on any server. The shareable link simply contains your search parameters (name, filters) and re-runs the search when opened.
